This site aims to share my joy and excitement that working with textiles brings and to encourage individual creativity.
I spent my childhood in rural England then trained as a nurse. I spent the next 15 years in different and sometimes remote parts of Africa. Shops were few and far between in those days and in order to clothe myself I had to learn to sew. Thus began a lifelong love affair with fabric.
In 1983 I moved to Western Australia with my family. It was here that I discovered that I had an obsessive passion for colour and texture and was at my happiest when “creating ”with textiles and the domestic sewing machine. My work is organic in nature and I enjoy using a variety of media to build up a multi- layered surface.
I have been teaching since 1986 and love to share my knowledge and enthusiasm. It is my experience that we are all far more creative than we realise and it is a pleasure to witness students discovering this!
